Started in 2003, the award is named after Sister Martina Rockers of Bishop Miege High School in Kansas City. In over 60 years of teaching science, Sister Martina inspired and challenged her students to learn in and outside the classroom.

The Ken-A-Vision Excellence in Teaching Award offers one award winner a personalized, engraved plaque, Ken-A-Vision products, and an all-expense paid trip to the National NSTA Conference, including flight, hotel, and registration.
